The College of Basic Education was founded at the University of Babil as "The College of Teachers" in 1994. It was then modernised as the College of Basic Education, in recognition that it is the highest academic institution (Basic Education - quality educational Institution). They graduate professors who understand the elementary college student, the undergradute student, and his understanding of the morals, knowledge, arts, and skills that match his awareness with his achievement.

In the College of Basic Education, departments offer bachelor's degrees (Arabic, English, Science, Special Education, History, Geography, Sports, and Computers) and master's degrees (Arabic, Literature, Teaching Methods, English Language, Teaching Methods, Special Education, Master's precise Specialization, General Doctoral Teaching Methods, History and Geography Social Teaching Methods).

The college has seen graduated with specialised scientific and technical capabilities for schools, colleges, official and community institutions, and ministries.
