The College of Basic Education was established in 1994 as (Teachers College) and renamed in 2004. It is a scientific educational college that seeks to prepare educational staff qualified educationally and scientifically to teach various scientific subjects in the undergraduate levels as well as in scientific research in various fields of knowledge, theory and applied and works to provide students with e-learning.

The college contains six scientific departments: Arabic, English, science (chemistry, physics, life sciences), history, geography, special education, mathematics, and computer. The college combines morning and evening preparatory study with semester study.
